How can we, in these challenging times, promote better relations with ourselves, with other people, with the natural environment and with rulers and authorities?<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

These questions are raised from the viewpoint of the need to build pure lands. As for the pure lands, they come from the perspective that there are better and worse worlds for the development of spiritual clarity and well-being. As practitioners, we can not only carry out our practices, but also support the creation of better worlds.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Crossroads and precipices are always the realities of every age. Today we have many of these challenges and uncertainties. Where should we put our efforts to build better worlds? How to direct our lives in these times? Each speaker will bring their own worldviews and point out skillful ways to take advantage of the present challenges and opportunities.<\/p>\n

As physics professor at UFRGS from 1969 to 1984, Alfredo Aveline devoted himself especially to examining quantum physics, a theory in which he found an affinity with Buddhist thought. In the early 1980s, he intensified his interest in Buddhism and, in 1986, founded the Center for Bodhisattva Buddhist Studies (CEBB). In 1993, he was accepted as a disciple by Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche and, in 1996, he was ordained a lama.<\/h6>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"Lama Glenn Mullin<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Born in Gasp\u00e9 (Qu\u00e9bec, Canada) in 1949, Lama Glenn Mullin is a lama of the Gelukpa lineage, Tibetologist, lecturer, author of books on Tibetan Buddhism and spiritual mentor of Maitreya Sangha Brazil. From 1972 to 1984, he received his training in Dharamsala, where he studied the Tibetan language, its literature and the yogas and meditations of Vajrayana Buddhism, under mentors such as the Dalai Lama himself and his two main tutors, Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang.<\/h6>\n

Goura is a cycle activist, philosopher, yoga teacher and currently serves as a state deputy for the Democratic Labor Party (PDT) in the Legislative Assembly of Paran\u00e1 (ALEP), where he is a member of the environment committee. He defends the causes of mobility, the environment, urban agriculture, conscious eating, humanized childbirth, a peace culture, waste reduction, human rights, accessibility and valuing public services and its workers.<\/h6>\n
